Considered as the most powerful creatures, they can be found in many Animes.

Dragons have always occupied an important place in Japanese folklore, so it is not surprising that we can find these mythical creatures in the magical world of anime and dragon manga. What is surprising is that the majority of these mythological monsters that appear in these dragon manga are based on the Western representation of these animals, huge flying lizards that breathe fire and reduce entire cities to ashes.

Even more shocking is that most of these representations of dragons in anime turn out to be not always memorable, whether they are European or Japanese dragons , we are really left with only a handful of "good" dragons.

I'm going to present you my (subjective) selection most epic and memorable dragons in the history of Anime ! My choice is based on aesthetics, power, charisma and other criteria like emotion.

By the way, if you're a true Dragons fan, do yourself a favor with our Dragon Kimonos, they are very comfortable and stylish.

10. DRAGON MANGA : HAKU DRAGON (SPIRITED AWAY)

haku-chihiro

Chihiro's Journey" is one of the most popular animated films of all time, with many nominations and awards to its credit. It is a beautiful story, and a wonderful adventure in which we meet the charming Chihiro and the mystical Haku, who has the ability to transform into a majestic Japanese dragon.

In his Water Dragon form, Haku looks like a typical Asian Dragon, he has a huge snake-like body, long whiskers, no wings and beautiful green hair on his head and back. Even though he spends most of his time as a human, his dragon form is so epic that I had to include him in the list.

9. WHITE DRAGON WITH BLUE EYES (YU-GI-OH)

white-dragon-blue-eyes

One of the most powerful and iconic monsters in Monster Duel, and certainly the most famous and iconic dragon in the Yu-Gi-Oh series, the Blue-Eyed White Dragon could not be left out. It is an absolutely majestic and unique creature.

Despite its name, the body of the beast is covered with light blue metallic scales. As the card description says, "this legendary dragon is an engine of destruction" and "is virtually invincible". This reflects the powerful and catastrophic nature of an authentic dragon.

8. DRAGON MANGA : HYORINMARU (BLEACH)

Hyorinmaru

Hyorinmaru is the spirit of Toshiro Hitsugaya's Zanpakuto (sword) in the Bleach dragon manga, knowing later that the spirit itself will take humanoid form. His look is similar to that of an Ice Dragon, I find him very charismatic and powerful.

Hitsugaya then explains that he does not have to wait for the water, because Hyorinmaru is the most powerful ice-based Zanpakuto, and all the water is his weapon and all the sky is under his command.

7. CHARMANDER DRAGON (POKEMON)

charizard-pokemon

Nostalgia when you hold us... Wherever there is a red version of Pokemon, there is its star Dragon, Rootfish. It is part of the final evolution of one of the symbolic "starters" of the first generation. The powerful Dragon-Type Pokémon became an early favorite among players, partly because its stunning graphics never fail to attract attention, and because this Fire-Type Pokémon was one of the most powerful beings in the game. Compared to the other Dragons, it's not the most stylish, but if you grew up with Pokémon, it will surely have a special place in your heart.

6. PETERHAUSEN (DEMON KING DAIMAO)

Peterhausen

Peterhausen is an awesome beast who has awakened after a hundred year sleep. His powers are terrible, so he seeks an equally powerful master to lead him and conquer the heavens together.

Peterhausen thinks only of decimating entire cities and fighting the most powerful opponents. However, this huge and terrible dragon has his sensitive side. He became jealous of his new master's popularity with the girls. He's a lovely killer monster !

5. KAIDO DRAGON (ONE PIECE)

kaido-dragon-armored-drake

It's hard not to have heard of the phenomenon One Piece, one of the most read and sold manga of our time. Kaido is one of the 4 Yonkos (emperors), he possesses the power of a demon fruit "Mythical Zoan", which makes him able to transform into a Dragon at will. His design is similar to that of a large Serpentine Dragon (which reminds us of another famous dragon in the ranking)

HisDraconic Form allows him to fly through the air at incredible speed, he has the ability to shoot compressed air or a beam of energy from his mouth powerful enough to annihilate any target opposing him

He is also consideredstrongest creature in the world and has an army of about 20,000 members, more than 500 of whom are users of artificial demon fruits (Smiles). His clan is called the "Hundred Beast Crew" and as its captain, he is still very much feared, as he cannot die himself.

4. ACNOLOGIA DRAGON (FAIRY TAIL)

acnologia-armored-drake

Acnologia is a powerful Dragon Slayer who can take the form of a terrible dragon. In this form, he is so powerful that he could slice poor Igneel in half. His wings create shock waves while his breath can unleash a devastating assault. Nothing can stop this huge beast.

Its design is very similar to that of the Wyrms or the four-legged dragons (all European dragons), but with a more rounded head, phoenix-like wings, and charming blue spiral patterns on the scales that cover its body. I think it's a brilliant combination of grace and terror.

3. SHOOTING STAR DRAGON (RECORD OF LODOSS WAR)

shooting-star-lodoss

The most powerful of all the dragons, Shooting Star, resides in his lair called the "Fire Dragon Mountain", where he guards the most important of all artifacts "the scepter of dominion". He is a Red Dragon and he reminds me a lot of Smaug (in "The Hobbit").

Shooting Star is a terrible and huge dragon that inspires fear and admiration in humans, whom he considers inferior beings. He has the ability to speak and communicate, although he does so only to insult and threaten people. The Shooting Star is without a doubt acataclysmic beast that must be stopped without underestimating it.

2. BAHAMUT DRAGON (SHINGEKI NO BAHAMUT GENESIS)

bahamut

Our list would certainly not be complete without the most terrible and unstoppable of all dragons, the fearsome Bahamut. His name alone inspires fear and terror in gods, humans and demons alike.

Bahamut is the most colossal of all dragons. His proportions are titanic, histail is even longer than his body and the shadow of his wings can cover an entire city. He exists only to destroy, that is his only goal and no human, divine or demonic weapon can stop him. Dragons are, in general, a symbol of power and in this sense, Bahamut is a perfect representation of dragons.

1.SHENRON DRAGON (DRAGON BALL)

Shenron-armored-drake

I guess you already had an idea of who was going to top our list. There is simply no other dragon in anime that is nearly as iconic and legendary as Shenron (and of course, it had to be a Japanese Dragon) He only appears from time to time in the series, but every time he does, it's a big event.

He magical and powerful being, the kind that everyone would want to summon. Once the seven Dragon Balls are gathered, you can break Shenron's sleep and watch him rise to the sky as the light fades and day turns to night. Then he will grant any wish that is asked of him. What an epic !

This article is coming to an end, I must have forgotten many, but you have the comment space to tell me about your favorite Dragon and give your opinion on this ranking. If you're ever a proven Dragon fan, don't hesitate to take a look at our rare selection of Dragon rings, unique jewelry symbolizing the power of these Legendary Monsters.

We are aware that dragons are powerful creatures capable of using their fire breath.. They are one of the many staples of the dragon video game and often a staple of the fantasy realm, they are everywhere. In series (Netflix, Disney Rakuten), and in mythical dragon video games such as World of Warcraft.. These winged creatures are just cool, they bring emotion and intrigue to the story

With wise and brilliant dragons like Skyrim's Paarthurnax making every conversation deep and immensely entertaining, there's no reason not to include more dragons. For every heroic appearance, there are Evil Monsters looking to Burn and Loot, which often leads to more entertaining possibilities inside these respective dragon video games are among the best and most enjoyable in the history of Boss Battles, these Winged Beasts claim the top spots in many people's heads. Today, I intend to focus on these terrifying monsters of the air, and compile a (subjective) list of the top ten dragon boss battles in dragon video game history.

If you want a dragon t-shirt, go to our dragon store.

10. DRAGON VIDEO GAME : RIDLEY DRAGON : METROID

What could be better than a Dragon ? A space dragon...

ridley-metroid-armored-drake

Ridley is Samus Aran's sworn enemy, a recurring opponent in the Metroid series. As a space pirate, he is one of the most fun and tricky bosses in the game. His design is that of a dragon, a purple pterodactyl spitting fire and plasma.

Because Ridley is a fan favorite, it takes a long time to control him, but it is also one of the most tough challenges in the series. With each appearance, he has his share of new upgrades and abilities. Fighting him is frantic fun and incredibly challenging for any player not fully familiar with the game.

Even though this Flying Beast is not the main official antagonist of the series, Ridley is the boss who remains the big bad of the series. Not only does he serve as the perfect challenge in his own right, but he's also one of the best dragon fights in history

I mean, he's still a Space Dragon, who is also a pirate ! And who got remade into a robot. By the way, Ridley was named after Ridley Scott, the director of Alien, a movie that inspired the developers of the Metroid games.

9. DRAGON VIDEO GAME : BUBBLE BOBBLE DRAGON

bubble-bobble-armored-drake

Bubble Bobble is one of the most iconic cooperative games ever created... Specifically referred to as dragons in the series many times, their cute aesthetic is akin to a Mini Dragon, I'm listing them in the rankings

For a long time, I mistook these small creatures for dinosaurs. They have no wings, don't breathe fire, and are about the size of a pair of shoes. But that's because they're Bubble Dragons, after all.

Bob and bub were two brothers before they were changed by a magical power that only Baron Von Blubba could control. Dragons are present in all levels, and their purpose ? Blow bubbles at their opponents, trying to spare their own dear ones.. What a delightful way to die.

8. UR-DRAGON : DRAGON'S DOGMA

ur-dragon-armored-drake

When confronting the Ur-Dragon, a boss with ridiculous health, the fight might drag on for a long time if you are not properly equipped. It might be difficult even with the best equipment and abilities, which is what makes the combat exciting and enjoyable. The Ur-Dragon is a true test of the player's patience and skill in Dragon's Dogma's boss encounters, which are the game's ultimate attraction.

While the offline version is often considered a pushover, the online version requires a multitude of different players to help you have a chance at defeating the fearsome beast. The combat gameplay is very difficult, but being one of the players who takes down the creature can be incredibly rewarding, as some of the most powerful weapons is at your fingertips after killing it.

In the worst case, the Ur-Dragon can simply fly away and ruin the contribution of dozens of players online. You know... It's still a game.

7. RAYQUAZA DRAGON : SUPER SMASH BROS BRAWL

Since its first appearance in Pokemon Ruby, Rayquaza has been one of many Pokemon to appear everywhere, making appearances in a multitude of later games, in other spin-offs and most notably, Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Since its first appearance in Pokemon Ruby, Rayquaza has been one of many Pokemon to appear everywhere, making appearances in a multitude of later games, in other spin-offs and most notably, Super Smash Bros Brawl.

dragon-sire-armored-drake

Dragons played an important role in Dragon Age Inquisition, functioning as hidden mini-bosses in each level, requiring careful tactics and strategies to have even a hope of defeating them. And while there are several unforgettable and interesting dragons that would fit into this list, such as the Abyssal Dragon or the Fereldan Frostback, none are more entertaining, challenging and worthy of the show than Hivernal.

Lurking in the Lion's Hold level, winter is the first of three dragons located in the east of the map that are the most difficult to defeat. Although he's the easiest of the three, he's probably the most spectacular. Fighting him atop a broken tower, frozen by puddles of icy water, surrounded by shards of crystal, is the epitome of epic. With a mix of air and ground attacks, the dragon is not only well designed but looks smart, Hivernal is hard to take down, the player's group management skills are put to the test.

Although not part of the main story and a dragon that most players will avoid, Hivernal makes its mark, with one of the most exciting dragon video game battles inthe genre. As one of the only memorable dragons outside of the two mentioned above, he is a fitting optional challenge for those who go hunting for the old big dragons.

5. DRAGON VIDEO GAME : ALDUIN SKYRIM

No list of dragons would be complete without the World Eater himself. The largest dragon to ever exist in the realm of Tamriel, it would herald the end of the world itself. Skyrim's final boss may be considered more of a formality than a great boss, but beyond all that, the fight against Alduin is one of the most epic in all of the games

alduin-armored-drake

Traversing the realm of Soverngarde, the misty skies with the voices of the ancient heroes of the North in the background, this is the perfect setup for agreat boss. Not to mention that as you pass through the fog, you see all those characters who stumbled and died while playing. Kodlak, Ulfric and Legate Rikke all wander aimlessly trying to escape the world eater that flies overhead, never to be seen. The whole scene is almost perfect. And when you gather the heroes of old to face the dragon god, you shudder with excitement

It's amazing to fight alongside the old heroes, and it's even better to take on Alduin alongside those who did so long before. The battle against the Boss could have been better if it had a distinctive design and a set of new moves rather than a classic dragon remake, but there's no denying the perfect atmosphere generated by facing the dragon and the emptiness left in the players' hearts after slaying the horrible creature. The combat quality is arguable, yet it is one of the game's most epic experiences.

When the guardian Tsun is tougher than the final boss, we wonder why he didn't go after Alduin. It would have saved us the trip.

4. SINH : DARK SOULS 2

While the quality of Dark Souls II is often debated, its DLC packs are without a doubt the highlight of the game, offering some of the most layered and complex levels in the entire series.

sinh-dragon-armored-drake

From the Mist Tower and the Smoky Knight, to Eleum Loyce and the Ivory King, the DLC has made great strides in improving the quality of the game. And alongside all of this was one of the best fights in the game. Deep within Shulva, the City of Sanctuary, guarded by fanatics and a shard of Manus himself, lies Sinh, the Sleeping dragon.

Dragon poisonous dragon impaled by Yorgh's spear, Sinh  manages to greatly improve upon the mediocre dragon fights of the base game. Combining aerial attacks and ground fighting almost perfectly, the boss fight is a joy to behold. Both fair and nice, it combines the mechanics that make most bosses great to create a truly enjoyable experience.

Another bonus is the story that from software created behind the sleeping dragon, so that the fight has some weight. You will learn how he plunged the city into poison after the invasion of the Flagblood Knights. All this, coupled with his past appearances in the game burning enemies for you, makes the whole experience of confronting him one of the best in the series.

3. URTHEMIEL : DRAGON AGE ORIGINS

Dragon Age Origins was a love letter to fans of the fantasy genre, and while it doesn't really age well in terms of graphics, it can still be called one of the greatest fantasy games of all time. Conflicts, plot, and people have all come together to create one of the most rich and engrossing experiences ever.

urthemiel-armored-drake

To be honest, there are a lot of dragons in the game. From small adversary dragons to gigantic dragons, the Archdemon is the most epic and dazzling of them all.
At the end of the game, the player and his party choose to fight in a torn world and confront Urthemiel, a corrupted god, the scourge. He is a gigantic and impressive dragon who is the big bad of the game. This boss is an effective test of the player's skills and ability to maneuver his party. It is challenging and well designed. It's fantastic that such a fantastic game concludes with such a fantastic fight.

One of the most heroic or heartbreaking moments is when you, Alistair will choose to slay the beast, sacrificing yourself in the process. The finale is flawless, deserving of a superb game and including one of the greatest fights ever seen. It's remarkable, because it's like the last page of a book, the culmination of an entire scenario, with your companions fighting by your side throughout the game, it's simply amazing.

You also have the choice to ruin your experience, and have all your friends run away from you at the end, to be stuck with the characters you like least, to slay the boss without losing all dramatic tension But only an idiot would attempt anything like that... Don't you think so ?

2. RATHALOS : MONSTER HUNTER WORLD

There are plenty of dragons and wyverns in the Monster Hunter universe, but the Rathalos are undoubtedly the flagship monsters of the franchise.

rathalos-armored-drake

Flying wyverns have been part of the series since the very beginning and have appeared in every Monster Hunter game to date. Rathalos, often known as "Kings of the Sky," patrol the sky around their nests and hunt for food. These colorful creatures are prone to surprise aerial attacks, but they are also formidable opponents on the ground.

They can inflict poisonous wounds with theirtalons, burn opponents with their fiery breaths, or simply chase them down and inflict damage with their ox tails. After beating their prey into submission, they hide them to eat them in private.

In Monster Hunter World, the Rathalos is present as a Boss, it makes the player see all the colors, because he enjoys a formidable advantage: the air.

1. KALAMEET : DARK SOULS

And, yeah, Dark Souls deserves a special mention. This mythical dragon, so feared that even the gods shun it, is hidden in the fantastic "Artorias of the Abyss" (Dark Souls Remastered). Of course, I'm referring to the Black Dragon Kalameet.

kalameet-armored-drake

Found terrorizing the skies of Oolacile, the player will call upon the skills of "Hawkeye Gough" with his bow, a blind giant, to slay him. This begins one of the most tense and balanced battles in the entire series. FightingKalameet is a joy, watching him leap onto the battlefield and spit fire at you. Learning and assimilating his moves, is quite difficult and appealing, as he has a myriad of air and ground techniques, each one fair, unlike Sinh, who can string together a lot. The black dragon Kalameet is a striking example Boss fight in a game. It's a well-run titanic clash and, frankly, I can't imagine a tougher showdown. An impressively scripted battle against an incredibly well-realized dragon. Perfection.

By the way, take a look at our variety of stunning dragon paintings if you want to adorn one of your home's rooms with them ! And, in your opinion, what is the most epic dragon battle in video game history ? Let us know in the comments what you think !

chinese-dragon-meaning-min

The Chinese dragon is a holy animal that represents both strong and benign meanings. Chinese dragons have long been a part of the Chinese people's national beliefs and traditions. Let's take a look at how they developed this mystical bond and why the Chinese dragon is such a significant cultural icon in China.

CHINESE DRAGON MEANING

The Traditional Chinese Dragon, whose real name is "Long" (or lung, 龙 , lóng), signifies and represents unification, Chinese civilization's core virtue. The Chinese people are stronger and more powerful when they are together, which is why the emperor, as the representative of the Chinese people and nation, was named the "True Long" (真龙天子), Heaven's son and a direct descendant of Chinese dragons.

chinese-dragon-symbol

Dragons are the greatest representations of cosmic Chi in ancient China (energy). In the pantheon of Chinese symbols, it is regarded to be the most potent emblem of good fortune. The Chinese dragon, as one of the four beasts representing the four points of the compass, is associated with new beginnings. The Chinese dragon also has the power to release water on parched lands, representing abundance and well-being.

chinese-dragon-meaning-symbol

Continued success, great achievements and prosperity are also in the arsenal of positive qualities and meanings of the Chinese Dragon, which ranks it among the most popular Asian creatures. Ultimately, the appearance of a Chinese dragon is a very positive sign. They may be seen at various events such as the Dragon Boat Festival, Chinese New Year (dragon dance), weddings, and so forth.. The Chinese dragon brings blessing to those who worship it according to the Chinese people.

WHAT DOES THE CHINESE DRAGON MEAN

In Chinese mythology and culturedragons are mythical creatures. In Chinese art, dragons are usually depicted as serpentine, scaly, four-legged creatures. Unlike European dragons, which are thought to be bad, Chinese dragons have long been associated with strong and fortunate forces. They have the ability to control water, rain, hurricanes and floods. The Chinese dragon is also a symbol of power, strength and luck.

CHINESE-DRAGON

The Chinese Dragon is also a representation of imperial might. Especially the yellow dragons or the golden dragons with five claws, they were the symbol of the emperor in many Chinese dynasties. The Dragon Throne was the name of the imperial throne. In the late Qing Dynasty, the dragon was even adopted as the national flag. The Chinese dragon is depicted on the sculptures on the steps of imperial palaces and tombs, such as the Forbidden City in Beijing.

CHINESE-DRAGON-1

In Chinese feudal civilization, the Chinese dragon represents emperors' sovereignty, and everything associated to it was solely reserved for emperors. The ancient emperors called their sons "dragon seeds", their robes were "dragon robes", and their chairs were "dragon chairs".According to legends and stories, the Chinese considered that they were the descendants of dragons since ancient times. To understand this, we need to look at the origin of the Chinese dragon and Chinese traditions.

CHINESE DRAGON ORIGIN

The origin of the Chinese Dragon is not proven, but some scholars believe that it comes from totems of different Chinese tribes. Others believe that it is a stylized representation of existing animals, such as snakes, fish or crocodiles. The Chinese dragon has progressively grown into a mythological monster as a result of these ideas.

CHINESE-DRAGON-ORIGIN

The Chinese scholar Wen Yiduo suggested that this fantastic collection of beast parts was actually based on the political union of several different tribes, each with a different animal as a totem. The dragon was thus a symbolic representation of the assimilation of these tribes into one nation. This interesting hypothesis, however, does not explain the appearance of dragons long before such political associations existed in early Chinese communities.

CHINESE-TOTAM

The dragon is one of the first monsters to emerge in Chinese folklore and mythology. It is not known when, by whom, or in what reality the dragon was invented, although some historians suggest a connection to rainbows and a "sky serpent" seen after rain showers or at waterfalls. Carved jade dragons have been unearthed at sites in the Hongshan culture. This discovery can be dated to between 4500 and 3000 BC, long before any written record of the creature appeared. Let's look at the history of these ancient Chinese civilizations.

CHINESE DRAGON HISTORY

According to legend, tribes in ancient China fought one other for greater land circa 2500 BC. To obtain an edge in the conflict, the Yellow Emperor Huang Di formed an alliance with another tribe leader named Yan Di. Yan Di is thought to have been born as a result of his mother's psychic conversation with a mighty dragon. According to legend, this great dragon supported him in his missions, and with its assistance, Huang Di and Yang Di overcame their shared foe, the Ji l people headed by Chiyou, at the Battle of Zhuolu. When the Huang Di and Yan Di tribes merged, the dragon was chosen as the symbol for their new flag.

HUANG-DI-YAN-DI-CHINESE

Many Chinese consider themselves to be the offspring of Huang Di and Yan Di, and so of Chinese dragons, since those primordial times. The descendants of Huang Di and Yan Di are known as (炎黄子孙) yán huáng zsn in Chinese. In China, there is also a well-known song about (龙的传人) lóng de chuánrén, the Chinese dragon's progeny.

HUANGDI-DRAGON

The Chinese dragon sign, as you can see, dates back to ancient China. In China, as civilization progressed and tribes gave way to kingdoms, the dragon's significance grew. Emperors began to think of themselves as dragons from the Han Dynasty onward. It all began with Liu Bang, who went on to become the Han Dynasty's oldest ruler.

The sky darkened one day when his mother dreamed of seeing a heavenly spirit, and when Liu's father arrived, he discovered a Chinese dragon laying next to his wife. She became pregnant as a result of this miraculous meeting and gave birth to Liu Bang. He was described as having a high nose, whiskers, and a peculiar beard that resembled a Chinese dragon head by some. The first emperor of the Han Dynasty was Liu Bang.

liu-bang-dragon-ARMORED-DRAKE

Following emperors did everything they could to keep the divine relationship with Chinese dragons alive. They claimed that as Liu Bang's successors, they were also the offspring of Chinese dragons, with Chinese dragon blood coursing through their veins.

Everything in the emperor's entourage was subsequently carved with Chinese dragons, from clothing to furnishings. Only the emperor, for example, was permitted to wear a dragon insignia on his clothing. The claws of the Chinese dragon represented social ranks, with the higher the position, the more claws. Generals and leaders in China might have up to four claws. Only the emperor was allowed to wear a Chinese dragon with five claws, which represented the emperor's actual hands. If anybody other than the emperor donned the five claws, he would be murdered.

DRAGON-TRONE-armored-drake

Emperors, as we'll see later, also picked the color of their Chinese dragon to demonstrate their might. The hue they picked for their Chinese dragon became the society's most important color. No one else was permitted to wear that hue, and if they did, they were subjected to punishment.

CHINESE DRAGON BODY

physognomy-of-the-dragon

The Chinese Dragon's physical appearance is frequently separated into numerous segments, since it is depicted as belonging to various animal species. The Chinese Dragon's body resembles that of a snake, with scales that resemble those of a carp. Its claws and legs are similar to those of a tiger, and its claws are similar to those of an eagle.

body-chinese-dragon

The Chinese Dragon Head is modeled by the dromedary, which is adorned with a pair of deer horns or, in some cases, antelope horns. He always has lengthy goatees and moustaches. His skull is frequently adorned with two antennas in addition to the horns. The demon's eyes are demon's eyes, and the bull's ears are bull's ears. Like a lion, the neck is frequently adorned with a mane, which is also worn on the elbows. It has an 81-scale crest in Vietnam.

body-chinese-dragon-1

The Asian dragon's legs are equipped with a certain number of claws. This number, which ranges from 3 to 5, represents the dragon's "rank" among its peers. The dragon with five claws is, without a doubt, the most powerful. This insignia could only be used by the Emperor of China and his family.

body-chinese-dragon-armored-drake

As a result, any garment, furniture, or structure carrying the five-clawed dragon was credited to the imperial dynasty and revered as such. As a result of their power, the great lords and mandarins were able to employ this insignia in turn. Only four-fingered dragons are often seen in Korea and Indonesia. In Japan, three-fingered dragons are more prevalent.

CHINESE DRAGON MYTHOLOGY

In Chinese mythology, the dragon is a formidable monster with supernatural abilities. They are linked to the power to manipulate the seasons, weather, and harvests. They represent the following in general :

The Chinese dragon was frequently featured on the uniforms of generals as a sign of authority, but only the emperor had the 9 Chinese dragons displayed on his uniform, symbolizing absolute harmonious might.

It is supposed that the fabled Yellow Emperor ascended to heaven after transforming into a dragon that resembled his symbol. The Chinese refer to themselves as "the progeny of the dragon" since they regard him to be their ancestor. The Chinese dragon became a symbol of imperial strength as a result of this mythology. The yellow dragon is the fifth emblem in East Asian culture, completing the Sixiang (four symbols). The Chinese quintessence, as well as the changing of seasons, are represented by this god, which is at the heart of the cosmos.

With a body length of 350 meters and a massive weight of 1,500,000 tons, the four dragon kings are also the biggest of the dragons. The majority of dragon monarchs are so massive that they can hold a small mountain in their claws. The four Chinese Dragon Kings' colors are as follows :

NINE SONS OF THE DRAGON

The Nine Sons of the Dragon (龍生九子) are mythological beings from China. Throughout Asia, they can be found as guardian entities on most imperial or religious structures (China, Japan, Vietnam, Korea). They're also frequently shown as a group of nine dragons, each clutching a pearl in its claws. The 9 Sons of the Dragon differ from one another in look and personality.

9-sons-of

The saying "the dragon has nine sons" (龍生九子)) dates back to the Ming Dynasty (明朝), when Ming emperor XiaoZong (明孝宗) inquired about their names from Li DongYang (李東陽), a scholar stationed at the court. Li DongYang had no idea, but he came up with a list of wonderful animals with fortunate traits discovered in ancient literature and ornamental arts to appease the emperor. Despite their dragon names, "the nine sons are not dragons, but each has his unique gift," according to the collection "HuaiLu TangJi" (懷麓堂集) :

  1. Qiuniu (囚牛) - Qiuniu is the oldest of the Chinese dragon's nine sons. He's the loveliest, most talented person I've ever met, and he adores music. Qiuniu is said to have a dragon head and a snake body, as well as superb ears that can identify most noises. Traditionally, Chinese people like to engrave the figure of Qiuniu on the head of Chinese violins, as well as on many musical instruments of ethnic minorities.

  1. Yazi (睚眥) - Yazi is the second oldest of the Chinese dragon's nine offspring, and he has a dragon's head but a jackal's body. As a result, the ancients frequently etched the figure of the dragon Yazi on their weapons, believing that Yazi could extinguish all bad spirits.

  2. Chaofeng (嘲風) - Chaofeng is the third of the Chinese dragon's nine sons. Chaofeng, despite his appearance, enjoys adventure, danger, and viewing from a high vantage point. According to legend, Chaofeng has the ability to generate earthquakes, tsunamis, and a variety of other natural calamities, but is also a sign of good fortune. Chaofeng can be seen on the ledges of Chinese palaces, displaying his magnificence and thanking passers-by..

  3. Pulao (蒲牢) - Pulao is the fourth of the Chinese dragon's nine offspring, and his physique is highly flexible. Pulao enjoys roaring and has a very loud voice. Almost all huge bells in China are adorned with the image of Pulao, indicating that the bell's voice is powerful and reverberates across vast distances.

  1. Suanni (狻猊) - Suanni is the fifth of the Chinese dragon's nine sons. He has the appearance of a lion, and he appears to be powerful and tough. He, on the other hand, would rather sit quietly and watch the fireworks. As a result, the image of Suanni is frequently depicted on temple censers.

  2. Bixi (贔屭) - Bixi is the sixth of the Chinese dragon's nine sons. He has the appearance of a massive turtle and possesses great strength and the ability to lift large items. Bixi figurines are commonly seen beneath tombstones.

  3. Bi'an (狴犴) - Bi'an is the seventh of the Chinese dragon's nine sons, and he resembles a tiger. He's a brilliant debater with a strong sense of fairness. People use Bi'an to adorn prison doors to portray a sense of justice and deterrent.

  4. Fuxi (伏羲) - Fuxi is the eighth of the Chinese dragon's nine sons, with a lion's head and a dragon's body. He is a kind being who enjoys books and calligraphy. On the sides of steles and surrounding tombstones, the image of Fuxi is invariably engraved.

  5. Chiwen (螭吻) - Chiwen is the youngest of the Chinese dragon's nine sons, with a dragon's head and a fish's body. According to legend, he was the god of rain and hence could extinguish fire. A pair of Chiwen ornaments may commonly be spotted on the finials of most Chinese palaces, in the hopes of avoiding fire.

Yang Shen (楊慎), a poet from the Ming Dynasty, offers a somewhat different list in the "Sheng'An WaJi" (升庵外集), an unauthorized collection ofSheng'An :

  • Bi Xi (贔屭)

  • Chi Wen (螭吻) or "ChiWei" (鴟尾/Owl's tail)

  • Pu Lao (蒲牢)

  • Bi An (狴犴)

  • Tao Tie (饕餮)

  • Ba Xia (𧈢𧏡) or (蚣蝮)

  • Ya Zi (睚眦)

  • Suan Ni (狻猊)

  • Jiao Tu (椒图)

In China, the number "nine" is significant since it is the biggest of the numbers, and Chinese dragons are commonly connected with it. A Chinese dragon, for example, is frequently defined by nine qualities, which is why there are nine versions. The Nine Dragon Wall ((九龍壁) is a Chinese imperial palace and garden wall that features nine distinct dragons. Because "nine" is the emperor's number, only the top officials were permitted to wear that many on their robes, while lower-rank officials were only permitted to wear eight or five.

CHINESE ZODIAC DRAGON

The Dragon is the most powerful sign in the Chinese Zodiac, occupying the fifth place. Dominance, ambition, authority, dignity, and ability are all attributes associated with the dragon. Dragons prefer to follow their own set of laws and are typically successful when left to their own devices. They are self-driven, fearless of obstacles, and eager to take chances. They are enthusiastic about whatever they do and go above and beyond. Unfortunately, Dragons may get fatigued and, more interestingly, unsatisfied as a result of their fire and zeal.

Although dragons frequently assist others, they rarely seek for assistance. Others are drawn to Dragons because of their vivid personalities, but Dragons are loners at heart. This might be due to the fact that individuals are most productive while working alone. Their need for privacy might be seen as arrogance or vanity. The temperament of dragons may swiftly surge and flare up.

YEAR OF THE DRAGON CHINESE ZODIAC

1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024, 2036... are the Chinese Dragon YearsEvery 12 years, it takes place. The Year of the Dragon is the fifth in the Chinese zodiac's 12-year cycle. You are a Dragon if you were born in one of these years.

According to legend, the Jade Emperor organized a tournament in which the Chinese zodiac signs' order was determined by the order in which the animals arrived at his palace. The Dragon was ranked fifth. Every 60 years, the years of sharing the same animal sign and the same element are repeated. Metal (gold), wood, water, fire, and earth are the five elements of the Chinese zodiac. People's qualities are supposed to be determined by the signs and aspects of their birth animals.

CHINESE NEW YEAR DRAGON SYMBOL

The dragon is a well-known emblem in China, and it is ubiquitous in Chinese culture. We also know that the Chinese Dragon represents knowledge, strength, and prosperity, as well as bringing people good fortune. As a result, from ancient times, the presence of the Chinese Dragon has been required at Chinese festivities. The appearance of the Chinese Dragon during New Year's Eve has been introduced to all parts of the world where overseas Chinese assemble, thanks to the growth of Chinese culture across the world. It has evolved into a real emblem of Chinese culture.

The Chinese Dragon Dance is a classic Chinese dance genre. The dragon is a symbol of strength, knowledge, and riches. It is most commonly seen during festivals, much like the lion dance. The Chinese dragon dance is thought to ward off evil spirits and all the ill luck that comes with it, instead bringing good fortune and luck. This is why the dragon dance is so popular at Chinese New Year and other auspicious events like weddings and other celebrations.

A group of dancers hold the dragon on sticks during the Chinese dragon dance. The dragon's head, which may incorporate moving parts controlled by another dancer, is lifted, dived, pushed, and swept by the lead dancers. Pyrotechnic devices are occasionally used to make it spew smoke. In a sinuous and undulating style, the dancers recreate the imagined motions of the Chinese dragon. The dragon's body is composed of fabric and bamboo, and its length varies, with some reaching up to 100 meters. It is held by a large number of people. The majority of dragons are now danced by nine persons.

WHAT IS DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL IN CHINA ?

The Dragon Boat Festival (or Longzhou Jie) in China was founded to commemorate poet and politician Qu Yuan (c. 340-278 BCE). State Minister Chu committed suicide by plunging into the Miluo River after being deported following a malicious attack on his reputation by a rival politician. Boats were sent out to look for his corpse, but they were unsuccessful, so his followers tossed rice balls (zongzi) into the water to pay tribute to him.

chinese-dragon-boats

Every year, a dragon boat race is staged on the river to memorialize the tragedy. This technique spread to other rivers in China, and it quickly expanded to include soothing the rain-bringing dragon. As a result, dragon boats generally have a massive dragon's tail in the stern and a dragon's head on the bow. The dragon boat race, which is traditionally conducted on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, has become a vivid feature of the Duanwu Festival.

The legacy endures. Although Chinese dragons are simply legendary animals, they are immensely important to the Chinese people, and their cultural effect is significant. Chinese dragons have long been major icons in Chinese culture, with a range of primarily positive connotations. You may obtain a deeper grasp of traditional Chinese culture by studying Chinese dragons.

Out there, but there are still a few that are must-sees for every dragon fan. Here are The 15 Best Dragons Movies Of All Time. In honor of another dragon film hatching this year on the big screen.

Merlin Movie : One of best dragons movies

Merlin is not a film in the traditional sense. It was a made-for-TV miniseries that aired on NBC in 1998. Yet it deserves to be included on the list due to its high quality and popularity. The sequence in the film where Merlin's love Nimue is sacrificed. Whether or not this is accurate, the image drew dragons into living homes. Fans of Game of Thrones may get numb to seeing Dragon on television. (though they shouldn't— Daenerys' dragons are frequently episode highlights). For many viewers, this was their first "dragon sighting."

Flight Of The Dragons

It's no surprise that animated films about dragons are among the greatest. On the big screen, capturing the majesty, enchantment, and even violence of dragons hasn't always been easy. Especially when the technology wasn't quite ready. Take, for example, The Flight of the Dragons. It blends famous vocal talents such as John Ritter and James Earl Jones. As well as excerpts from fantasy tomes The Flight of Dragons and The Dragon and the George. Classic produce an animated feast for all ages that asks the fascinating issue of whether magic and science can coexist.

Flight-of-the-Dragons

Newcomers to the film should not be put off by the film's lackluster cover art. It uses the same dramatic, beautiful, yet gritty fantasy aesthetic of films like The Last Unicorn. It's a unique form of picture that no longer exists, which is a loss for the genre but also a monument to how far filmmakers have progressed in terms of technology.

Dragonslayer Movie

In more ways than one, Dragonslayer harkens back to the classic dragon fable as well as David's victory over Goliath. It even had a lottery system for dragon sacrifices, which is still a popular motif today.
The film has a startling amount of gore considering its subject matter, and its backbone included some borderline horror aspects. Although today's dragon aficionados may find the film's special effects to be both antiquated and gloomy, the picture was a great triumph in cinematography and special effects at the time, showing a dragon on the big screen in a way that no other film had done before.

Giving virgins to the local dragon to devour is all in good fun, until one of those virgins happens to be your daughter. Despite Peter MacNicol's best efforts to distance himself from the 1981 film, Dragonslayer remains a cult favorite. The film is a must-seetheme because of its oddity, melancholy, and "rescuing the damsel in distress."

Lord Of The Rings : The Two Towers

Tolkien enthusiasts argue that no film will ever completely do the books justice, yet no one can dispute the captivating effects of the CGI sequences in The Lord of the Rings. During The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, audiences all across the world had chills as they saw the swooping fell monsters for the first time. One may argue that Return of the King's Nazgul sequences are even more captivating. While the classic scene between the Witch King and Eowyn is undoubtedly memorable, it was at Osgiliath that viewers first saw the Nazgul's fell monsters while on the search for the One Ring. Audiences could virtually smell and feel the monsters' rotten odour and ear-splitting howls among the creatures' thunderous wing-swishing and ear-splitting yells.

Lord-Of-The-Rings-The-Two-Towers

The fallen animals, also known as Nazgul-birds and hell-hawks, were originally more pterosaur-like, according to Tolkien. The fallen animals in Peter Jackson's film were more akin to wyverns, with snaky looks and no beaks.

Pete's Dragon : The dragons movies

Pete's Dragon, although being one of the more cheerful dragon flicks, is not without its gloomy moments. Pete's youth wasn't exactly pleasant, what with the mistreatment of a rural adopted family and the prospect of having his dragon slaughtered, maimed, and eaten as magical medicine. Despite the film's low approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (47%) and performances by Helen Reddy and Mickey Rooney, as well as Charlie Callas, who voiced the funny animated dragon, families appreciated the 1977 film's musical moments.

petes-dragon-movie

Eliot's charming demeanor, along with his round, hand-drawn features and Pete's support, made him a popular among youngsters and adults who had suffered from loneliness. The animation is very comparable to The Reluctant Dragon and The Sword in the Stone, two honorable candidates on the list. Eliot will be adapted into a live-action film in 2016, with a furrier dragon.

Shrek Movies

Dragons are seldom depicted as feminine monsters in films. Shrek not only had a pink, eye-lashed, and lipsticked dragon, but it also included her falling in love with a talking donkey, which was a first for any genre. Most dragon films have little to no light humor, however Dragon in Shrek starts off as a threat to fight inside the "damsel in distress" archetype and eventually transforms into a love-struck joke. In subsequent Shrek films, Dragon develops into a serious love interest, even breeding donkey-dragon hybrids with Donkey, the series' sidekick.

shrek-movies

Dragon was one of the first films to feature a dragon created using current CGI animation, and crowds flocked to see it. Three sequels to the 2001 film have been made, with a fifth feature set to be released in 2019. Throughout the franchise, Dragon's special effects increased, and the character was once again used as a terrifying beast during the Shrek Forever After time-warp. Following the success of Shrek, DreamWorks Animation catapulted as a corporation, and Dragon's involvement, among the other fairy tale monsters, was a key part of that success.

Maleficent Movie

Angelina Jolie reimagined one of the most renowned cinematic villains in 2014's Maleficent for Walt Disney Pictures. Although the dragon in the film is based on Maleficent's faithful servant Diaval rather than the eponymous fairy herself, the film is one of the greatest modern dragon films because to the dragon, the creatures of the Moors, and Maleficent's own stunning wings and powers. It has a magnificent dragon combat sequence as well as magic at every move. It not only gave a villain humanity and a credible narrative, but it also put a heroine in charge, inspiring small girls all across the world to dress up as Maleficent and carry their stuffed ravens everywhere from trick-or-treating to show-and-tell.

maleficient - best dragons movies

Sleeping Beauty is deserving of a mention here. Not only did it inspire the Maleficent film, but the animated dragon's attack in the film is one of the most exhilarating animated scenes of all time, predating contemporary CGI effects a genuinely thrilling scene for its time and most certainly the finest scene in Sleeping Beauty.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

When it comes to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, fans of the Harry Potter film franchise who have never read the books are truly losing out (not to mention the rest of the books). The dragon combat is an important part of the Triwizard Tournament, although readers in the novel will encounter a variety of dragons. They'll also meet Charlie Weasley, a character who is often neglected in the movie but is adored by fans. The most wonderful moments in Goblet of Fire are creatures, but the dragon sequences are so popular that there is even a dragon ride in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Harry-Potter-And-The-Goblet-Of-Fire

When it comes to dragons, the Harry Potter universe isn't restricted to just one book or film. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid adopted and raised a dragon named Norbert from an egg, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione ride a Ukrainian Ironbelly in one of the finest moments in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Willow Movie

Willow was one of the first fantasy films that many fans of the genre had seen. While its troll resembled a shoddy King Kong suit, and its two-headed dragon looks absolutely ancient by today's special effects standards, it nonetheless managed to enthrall spectators in 1988. The sequence in which Willow kicks a hatching two-headed dragon into a moat only to see it grow enormously and consume humanity enthralled audiences, setting the way for far more realistic dragons in today's films.

willow-dragon - best dragons movies

Despite the fact that Willow was just a small commercial success, it nevertheless has a big fan base, as do many fantasy films. It still appeals to audiences today, thanks to its strange monsters and Warwick Davis's hesitant yet resolute bravery. It was nominated for two Academy Awards, and director Ron Howard has told reporters that a sequel is "never said never."

Reign Of Fire Movie

Dragon stories are usually set in ancient times, so the futuristic film Reign of Fire from 2002 offers a unique take on the genre. It was not only an interesting post-apocalyptic picture that anticipated the current appetite for dystopian media, but it also posed a distinct threat to the human race: dragon assaults.

reign-of-fire-movie

For a 21st-century film, the idea seems a little cheesy, but Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, and Gerard Butler pulled it off admirably. The film was not well received by critics, but fantasy aficionados praised Bale's courage, Butler's devotion, and McConaughey's wide-eyed lunacy. As humans became the hunted in a dragon-dominated planet, the images of a conflict with dragons in a live-action film were unusual and satisfying. The film, which won a Festival de Cine de Sitges Award and was nominated for a Saturn Award, was also adapted into a video game.

The Hobbit : The Desolation Of Smaug

Many fans feel that Benedict Cumberbatch's depiction of the greedy dragon Smaug is the best thing about Peter Jackson's Hobbit flicks. The dragon's amazing effects and arrogant demeanor, as well as his entertaining media interviews, made the remainder of the film worthwhile to watch. On film, the dragon's desire for money and revenge was evident. Smaug's sharp reptilian features, cunning golden eyes, and velvety-turned-murderous voice combine to form a terrifying, evil creature the world has never seen before. Smaug, the finest modern-day representation of a dragon the world has yet seen, was inspired by many of the other best dragons movies.

The-Hobbit-The-Desolation-Of-Smaug

The Hobbit : The Desolation of Smaug was a critical and financial triumph, grossing $958 million worldwide. It grossed more money than The Two Towers and The Fellowship of the Ring, despite the fact that many fans claim to prefer the latter films.

Spirited Away Movie

There are very few films that feature Asian dragons. While Eddie Murphy plays the dragon Mushu in Disney's Mulan (who also lends his vocal skills as the paramour to another dragon on this list), Haku, the River Spirit in Hayao Miyazaki's animated film Spirited Away is the greatest portrayal of an Asian dragon in a film. Haku, like many other Miyazaki characters, is a mix of light and dark, torn between his desire for power and his desire to be a decent person. He obeys his mistress, the witch Yubaba, in dragon form while still trying to defend the film's protagonist, Chihiro. In the end, Chihiro's narrative is told, and she is the one who rescues them both.

spirited-away-movie

The majority of Miyazaki's flicks are so marvelously delightful that they put other animated features' one-note, two-dimensional characters to disgrace, and Spirited Away is no different. The picture has received enough critical acclaim to demonstrate its worth, as well as enough public approbation to demonstrate its creativity and fun. It has grossed over $289 million worldwide and has quickly risen to become the highest-grossing picture in Japan's history.

How To Train Your Dragons Movies

The majority of films that drastically differ from their novels are huge flops with their biggest fans, which is one of the reasons why some of them aren't on our list. How to Train Your Dragon, probably the finest modern film about dragons, is an exception. On Rotten Tomatoes, the 2010 Dreamworks Animation film received a 98 percent approval rating, launching a complete series of goods, video games, TV programs, and sequels.

How-To-Train-Your-Dragon-Movie - best dragons movies

The film is far more than its box office achievement. How to Train Your Dragon is a funny and emotional narrative about a nobody who becomes the most important person in a town because of his compassion and commitment. Its dragons are incredibly inventive, and in certain circles, they are compared to Pokemon as "pets" to collect. Toothless, the film's principal dragon, combines classic flying, fire-breathing dragon attributes with groundbreaking new traits like cat and dog-like behavior, making him the most wanted dragon on Earth, earning him his own Build-a-Bear.

The Neverending Story

Falcor, the fortunate dragon, is based on a Chinese dragon rather than a European dragon, but most viewers remember him as a large, gleaming dog that loved children— not for breakfast. This soaring, smiling luck dragon was the most popular creature in The Neverending Story, displaying such enthusiasm and optimism for Atreyu's journey that he may have been dubbed the Leslie Knope of dragons. Although his huge brown eyes and soft fur were weird in 1984, Wolfgang Peterson's film maintains its appeal, with parents showing their children their childhood best dragons movies every year. Falcor's delighted participation in a fairly innocuous vengeance plot against Bastian's bullies cemented his position in the hearts of both young and old.

The-Neverending-Story

Falcor's appearance may have influenced David Lowery's portrayal of Eliot in the 2016 Pete's Dragon film. Eliot has been shown having hairy, feline characteristics that resemble Falcor and Toothless.

Dragonheart : The Dragons Movies

Dragonheart, perhaps the finest film on dragons, tells the story of Draco, a dragon who risked sharing his heart in order to save a human prince's life. Draco's trust in mankind was shattered when his common heart was spent on a ruthless dictator. With his snarky comments and curmudgeonly character, Draco, portrayed by Sean Connery, instantly won over admirers as a partner with Dennis Quaid's plotting, dragon-slaying ex-knight. Even though the film ended in tragedy, it ensured a better future for the kingdom and secured Draco's place among the stars among his other dragons. The film's screenplay may have been uninteresting to critics, but no one could dispute the allure of its imagery and artistic appeal. It has also spawned a video game and two sequels after its initial release.

dragonheart-movies

Although the sequel to Dragonheart was too bad to say, the original plot mixed a fascinating fantasy tale about two jaded people defrauding communities of their money with the first really accurate modern-day representation of a dragon, giving it a place among the finest dragon films of all time.

To draw a Charizard, follow this easy step-by-step drawing tutorial. All you need is a sheet of paper and a pencil. You can also use colored pencils or markers to color your work.

In each illustration, the new lines are highlighted in blue. Draw your lines lightly at first, because you'll be erasing a lot of them to finalize your drawing. Are you ready to start your Pokémon adventure? Shooters, I choose you!

Before we get started, if you're a dragon fan, here's our special selection of dragon rings, a deadly piece of jewelry.

Charizard Head

charizard-drawing-head-1

Start by drawing a small circle in the middle of your page. This will form the head of Charizard.

charizard-drawing-head-2

Next, draw two curved lines with rounded ends on the top of the head. These will form the horns of Charizard.

charizard-drawing-head-3

Begin to detail the face of Charizard by drawing a vertical curved line in the center of the circle, and two more curved lines to the right of the circle.

charizard-drawing-head-4

Form the snout with an extension of a curved line from the bottom of the circle, and connect it to the curved line you drew inside the right side of the circle. Draw another curved line at the end of the snout.

charizard-drawing-head-5

For the jaw, draw a sinuous line from the base of the left horn to the tip of the snout of the Charizard.

charizard-drawing-head-6

Clears the reference lines. These include the original circle and the line across the snout.

Charizard body

charizard-drawing-BODY-1

Draw the neck of Charizard. Draw two curved lines from the bottom of the head, then connect them at the bottom using a shorter round line.

charizard-drawing-BODY-2

Draw a roughly circular shape under the neck. This will form the body of Charizard.

charizard-drawing-BODY-3

Sketch the arms and legs of Charizard. The left arm is made of two curvilinear lines starting from the body. The right arm is drawn with four curved lines that intersect the body and neck. For the lower legs, draw each one with two curved lines.

charizard-drawing-BODY-4

Draw a circle at the end of each arm. This will form the hands of Charizard. For each foot, connect the two sides of the leg with a wavy bulbous line.

charizard-drawing-BODY-5

Draw three claws on each foot. To draw a claw, draw two rounded lines from the foot. The lines will meet at the end. Connect the lines at the other end with a slightly curved line. Each claw will look like a curved triangle with a rounded base.

charizard-drawing-BODY-6

Erase the marker lines that cross the claws, leg and arm.

charizard-drawing-BODY-7

Draw three claws on each hand. Start each claw by drawing a curved line that starts outside the hand circle, curves outward and ends inside. Then draw a second, shorter line from the middle of the first, ending inside the circle. Finally, connect the two ends of the line with a short curved line. Also draw a rounded line down the middle of the hand to add detail.

charizard-drawing-BODY-8

Erase the indicative lines from the hands of Charizard.

Charizard tail

charizard-drawing-tail-1

Draw the tail by drawing a curved line from the leg and foot, meeting in the same place. Finish the tail by adding another line between the body and the foot.

charizard-drawing-tail-2

Highlights the belly of Charizard with a line from the left side of his body to his right leg. Create a flame at the end of his tail. Start on one side of the tail tip, drawing a jagged, winding line. Finish the line on the other side of the tip of Charizard tail.

charizard-drawing-tail-3

Adds relief and detail to the tail by drawing a curved line.

Charizard wings

charizard-drawing-1

Draw the wings of Charizard. For each wing, draw a wavy line from the shoulders, then curve it out and down. Draw another similar wavy line under the first one. Repeat on the opposite side. Draw the eye with two curved lines. For the nose, draw two short curved lines at the end of the nose, and draw a longer wavy line above the left nostril. Draw a triangular tooth at the edge of the mouth.

charizard-drawing-2

Draw a curved "M" line to connect each wing tip to the back. Add detail to the wings with two slightly curved vertical lines. Complete each eye with a rounded line, a small circle and a dot.

charizard-drawing-3

Delete the reference line from the neck of Fire Dragon. You have a nice overview of the Fire Dragon in black and white.

DRAWING OF DRACAUFEU

charizard

Color your Charizard. To color him in the classic style, color his body in orange, his wings and eyes in blue, his belly in light yellow and his tail in bright yellow. The claws can remain white.

This blog will serve as a step-by-step guide to learn how to draw Toothless, try to apply yourself as much as possible and follow the indications well to have an impressive final result

For thousands of years
dragons have appeared in the art and mythologies of cultures around the world. The word "dragon" is derived from the ancient Greek word drákōn, which means "a snake of enormous size, a water serpent."

Dragons and dragon-like animals are mentioned in ancient manuscripts such as the Bible and the Epic of Gilgamesh. Medieval maps were often marked with the warning "here come dragons" or depictions
sea serpents in areas that had not yet been explored, step-by-step drawing tutorials will be available for all styles of dragons soon (cartoon, European, Chinese and others). We've compiled 4 dragon drawing guides below. All you need is a pencil and a sheet of paper, ready to start your dragon adventure ? Let's get started !

HOW TO DRAW TOOTHLESS

Toothless is the last of his kind, known as Night Fury. His best friend is a rider named Hiccup, a young Viking. Toothless involves a bit more detail than most of the tutorials listed here, but the step-by-step instructions make drawing the Toothless dragon a breeze. New lines added at each step are highlighted in red.

TOOTHLESS HEAD

toothless-drawing-head-1

Begin the drawing by lightly sketching the basic shapes that make up Toothless' face. An oval circle with a smaller oval circle at the bottom. Find the center vertically and horizontally, as shown above.

toothless-drawing-head-2

Now draw the outside that the two previous oval circles form. The top of the mouth is in the center of the horizontal line, as seen above. Draw 2 down ward sloping lines for the dragon's nostrils.

toothless-drawing-head-3

Draw the top of the nose with two lines curved inward. Start drawing the eyes, also with lines curved outward. Draw a letter "u" for the iris of the eye. Draw the two ears by drawing a letter "c" for the left ear and a letter "c" backwards for the right ear. Draw a letter "m" on the top of the head. And draw a group of inverted "u" letters along the dragon's forehead.

toothless-drawing-head-4

Draw the bottom of the dragon's mouth in a half circle. Draw the bottom of the eye in a sideways "c" shape. Draw a small oval circle to highlight the eye.

toothless-drawing-head-5

Draw a curved line under each eye. Lightly draw a smaller mouth shape inside the mouth, this will be the gums. Also lightly draw the shape of the ears.

toothless-drawing-head-6

Draw the ears darker, but inside the ears, make a wavy line. Draw Toothless' teeth by drawing circular shapes along the bottom row and more triangular shapes at the top of the mouth.

toothless-drawing-head-7

Now draw the gums behind the teeth by retracing the line you drew in drawing number 5. Draw a "w" shape for the tongue.

TOOTHLESS'S BODY

toothless-drawing-head-8
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
toothless-drawing-head-9

Now you can start drawing Toothless' arms using the outline you drew in the previous step to help you do so. Each hand is shaped like an oval circle. Draw the claws in a "v" shape (closed with a curved line).

toothless-drawing-head-10

Now draw the right leg using the diagram as a guide. Draw the claws again.

toothless-drawing-head-11

Draw the left leg. Draw a number "7" upside down for the inside of the leg. Also draw claws for his legs.

toothless-drawing-head-12

Draw the Toothless dragon's tail by tracing its outline carefully.

toothless-drawing-head-13

Draw a letter "v" to the right of Toothless' ear. Draw a letter "L" under the left arm of the dragon. Draw a letter "L" upside down under the right arm. Draw squiggly lines on the back of the tail and a zigzag shape on the end.

toothless-drawing-head-14

Draw a capital "T" in the tail. Also draw the wings of the tail. You can see a number "7" and another number "7" backwards, with a letter "v" backwards for the left wing. For the right wing, you can see a number in the shape of a "y", connected to a letter in the shape of a "u".

TOOTHLESS' WINGS

toothless-drawing-head-15

Lightly draw a triangle on each side of Toothless. The one on the right is much larger and upside down.

toothless-drawing-head-16

Now use the triangle you drew in the previous step to guide you in drawing Toothless' right wing.

toothless-drawing-head-17

Again, use the triangle you drew two steps before to guide you in drawing the left wing.

toothless-drawing-head-18

Black and white drawing of the Toothless dragon. Now finish the dragon by blackening the right lines and erasing the ones you don't need anymore.

toothless-drawing-head-19

Colorful and finished drawing of the dragon. Get watercolor, chalk, airbrush, colored pencils, or something else to color Toothless.

In this article about the Komodo Dragon, we will try to elucidate a maximum of mysteries concerning the famous monitor. We will bring answers to a multitude of questions about it, such as :

  • Its origins

  • His physique

  • Its dangerousness

The Komodo monitor remains one of the most fascinating and fantastic living creatures of our time, discover it through our "Ultimate Guide". I wish you a good reading.

KOMODO DRAGON, WHO IS IT ?

They are as charismatic as orangutans, tigers or pandas, but the future of the largest lizard on Earth is uncertain. The Komodo dragon, (Varanus komodoensis), is the largest species of lizard existing on the planet, this reptile is part of the Varanidae family. Also called Komodo monster and Komodo monitor, it is found on the island of Komodo and near some islands of the Sunda (archipelago of Insulinde), in central Indonesia.

By the way, if you are a fan of dragons in general, please visit our Dragon Shop, you will find items such as the rings below.

Popular interest in the large size and predatory habits of this particular lizard has allowed this endangered species to become an ecotourism attraction, which has fortunately encouraged its protection. However, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Komodo dragon is currently in a "vulnerable" conservation status.

komodo-dragon-1

These large lizards range in color from black to yellow-gray, depending on their location, and have rough, durable skin reinforced with osteoderms (bony plates) that protect them from injuries from scratches and bites. The Komodo dragon also has a large muscular tail and long, powerful claws. It reminds us of the mythical dragons that breathe fire.

KOMODO DRAGON , WHERE DOES IT COME FROM ?

Where do they come from? Although they are famous for inhabiting the Indonesian island of Komodo and surrounding islands, the Komodo dragon got its start in Australia. According to the fossil record, Komodo dragons moved from Australia to the islands of Indonesia, arriving on the island of Flores about 900,000 years ago. According to paleontologist and environmentalist Tim Flannery, the Komodo dragon disappeared from Australia about 50,000 years ago, a disappearance that coincides with the arrival of humans on the continent.

komodo-dragon-2

KOMODO DRAGON HABITAT

What is their habitat like ? They are quite rare creatures and are only found in the wild on five islands: the islands of Komodo Minor Probe, Rinca, Gili Montang and Gili Dasami, all located in the Komodo National Park, and on the island of Flores, where they roam freely. They are able to continue to thrive in conditions that are unsuitable for other creatures and humans. Many of them are found in captivity, in zoos, because they attract large crowds.

komodo-dragon-3

The area where the Komodo dragon lives must be arid for them to do well. They can live in the forest or open savannah and do best in temperatures that hover around 40 degrees Celsius each day. The area where this lizard lives in the wild is dry year round, except during the monsoon season. These reptiles need water to survive, and have the ability to store water when it rains, or when they enter the water to swim. When their bodies become too hot, they excrete salt instead of water.

POPULATION OF THE KOMODO DRAGON

There are approximately 6,000 Komodo dragons alive at this precise date. Their populations are limited to the lower Sunda Islands of Indonesia, including the islands of Komodo (1,700), Rinca (1,300), Gili Motang (100) and Flores (perhaps 2,000), according to estimates by the World Animal Foundation. Komodo dragons made their first appearance outside of Indonesia in 1992 at the Washington National Zoological Park. The zoo reports that four litters have been hatched and 55 cubs now live in more than 30 zoos around the world.

komodo-dragon-4

KOMODO DRAGON : HIS PHYSICAL CHARACTER

KOMODO DRAGON SKIN

  • Adults are gray or clay-colored; juveniles are more colorful, with lighter, mottled skin.

  • Females and males are similar in color although females have more red on their flanks.

  • The yellow and forked tongue is one of their specific characteristics.

komodo-dragon-5

KOMODO DRAGON VIEW

  • It is his primary food detector, he can spot carrion up to 5 km away.

  • Odorous particles in the air are collected by the forked tongue and brought to the palate (Jacobson's organs) where signals are generated and sent to the brain.

  • Retinas have only cone cells that can detect color, but are weak in dim light.

  • It can see up to 300 meters away. Very useful for hunting to detect the movements of its targets.

komodo-dragon-6

HEARING THE KOMODO DRAGON

  • The Komodo dragon is not deaf, but it does not depend on sound as much as on smell.

  • It can only hear a small range of frequencies.

KOMODO DRAGON SIZE

This Komodo dragon can reach a total length of 3 meters (the average is 2 meters). Females are smaller and measure up to 1.8 meters long. These proportions are data collected in captivity. The physical characteristics of the Komodo dragon are impressive. Of the 5,600 species of lizards, the Komodo dragon is the largest in the world. Because of the size and aggressiveness of the Komodo dragon, there are stories and legends about them in many cultures. The size of the Komodo dragon plays a major role in the food chain.

komodo-dragon-7

These reptiles (not extinct) are the most spectacular in terms of size and they still exist in the world today. They are so large that they are called mythical giants. These impressive creatures are unique in many ways. However, the size of the Komodo dragon is certainly its most obvious physical feature. When fully grown, once on its hind legs its size is far greater than the average human height (1.71 meters) in the world. Moreover, they dominate the eco-system in which they live thanks to their imposing size.

KOMODO DRAGON WEIGHT

At a staggering average weight of 70 kg, these lizards are true monsters. This makes the Komodo dragon slightly heavier on average than humans (although well below the American average of 88.8 kg). This makes them much larger than other lizards, which weigh about 15 kg. These huge weights are just averages. The largest Komodo dragon reliably measured weighed 166 kg! That's more than the weight of a standard refrigerator. Males tend to grow larger and bulkier than females. The young weigh less than 100 grams. Their early years are precarious, and they often fall victim to predators, including other Komodo dragons. At 5 years old, they weigh about 25 kilograms. At this point, they begin to hunt larger prey. They continue to grow slowly throughout their lives.

komodo-dragon-8

The weight of the Komodo dragon is sometimes reported to be even higher than that. This is due to another amazing ability of the Komodo dragon. Their stomach expands easily when they eat. This allows them to eat up to 80% of their weight in one meal! Imagine almost doubling your weight after eating a large Christmas meal. This extreme weight gain slows them down considerably. As a result, they vomit their stomach contents when threatened. This allows it to quickly escape from its predators in case of need. It is a way to manage a food coma. The Komodo dragon is not only large but also muscular. This contributes to their massive weight. Although they are definitely the largest lizards in terms of weight.

KOMODO DRAGON VENOM

The team of the youtube channel "Animal Planet" observes Komodo dragons hunting in the wild during a visit to the island of Rinca in Indonesia. They then demonstrate the effect of the powerful venom on a piece of raw meat, the experiment takes place at 5 minutes and 25 seconds. The goal is simple, to compare the bacteria and toxins present in the mouth of the man to that of the reptile, after the bite, they will come to settle and contaminate the meat during 3 days. The result is deadly hallucinating.

The Komodo dragon is one of the few lizards with a venomous bite. These stealthy and powerful hunters rely on their sense of smell to detect food, using their long forked tongues to sample the air and detect odors and flavors. Each end of the tongue captures molecules belonging to the prey and transfers them to a sensory organ in the mouth, which will mark the way forward.

Another reason why these creatures are so fascinating is that they are immune to their own poisons. The reason for this is unknown, but members of their species are themselves protected from the venom of their fellow creatures. Scientists are investigating the possibility of finding antibodies in the blood of the Komodo dragon that could be responsible. The saliva of the Komodo dragon is toxic, its prey often dies from the wounds, even if it manages to escape despite the bite, it often succumbs from the infection of its wounds

komodo-dragon-9

The Komodo dragon is thought to have evolved from the large reptiles of the genus Varanus, which roamed the Earth over 200 million years ago. Many experts wonder why this species is one of only two that produce poison. They rarely need to directly capture live prey, as their toxic bite releases toxins that inhibit blood clotting.

Some herpetologists point out that the physical trauma of the bite and the introduction of bacteria from the Komodo dragon's mouth into the wound also play a role in the prey's decreased vitality and death. Because they are in no hurry once the toxin is inoculated, Komodo dragons often find their prey dying or shortly after death.

komodo-dragon-10

Its venom, among other things, reduces blood pressure, with some compounds as potent as those found in the most venomous snake, the Taipan (Western Australia). The venom of a Komodo dragon seeps into the wounds it inflicts on any unfortunate animal it attacks. The animal may escape the dragon's grip, but it will not escape the venom that will eventually bring it down.

KOMODO DRAGON BITE : A DEADLY ACT

We know that the Komodo monitor is a tough and powerful beast, and in the video below, Steve Backshall (an English naturalist) who in his mad quest, seeks to add a reptile to his list of "60 deadliest predators" in the world. And what better way than to go to Indonesia to find the biggest lizard on earth. He will use a device that will measure the power of the komodo dragon's jaw, to ultimately deduce how dangerous the bite is. The experiment starts at 1 minute and 25 seconds.

Steve is interested in the bite of the Komodo dragon, because lizards in general are not known for the power of their jaws. He decides to measure his own bite first to get an idea of how the lizard compares to himself, the result is 8.4 kg/cm².

The komodo lizards do not wait, curious and hungry, with the smell of blood that emanates from the meat, they hasten to tear the meat by biting the measuring device. Steve honors their tails which for him, would be used as a defensive weapon by comparing it to a baseball bat, during the experiment at 2 min and 48 seconds, one of the komodo dragons makes a demonstration on one of his companions. Very impressed by the result of the power of the reptile's jaw which is 42 kg/cm², surpassing 5 times that of man.

komodo-dragon-11

DRAGON KOMODO ATTACK

The Komodo dragon has an incredible sense of smell. Experts estimate that they are able to smell up to six kilometers away if the wind is blowing in the right direction, making it easy for them to find their prey. The combination of their speed of movement, their powerful teeth and their unerring venom means that they are almost always victorious. They can run quickly and occasionally attack and kill humans. They often wait along the beaten path to ambush passing pigs, deer and cattle.

komodo-dragon-12

Komodo dragons have very good vision, they can see their prey at a distance of up to 300 meters. They are also very fast, although they don't need to be. Despite their rugged appearance, they can run briefly at a speed of 20 km/h. But they prefer to hunt stealthily, waiting for hours for their prey to cross their path. They are very patient animals and their victims often fall victim to their attacks. The video below is a perfect example of the determination of the Komodo dragon, so please don't be too sensitive.

The Komodo dragon is said to have inspired the creation of the iconic movie monster Godzilla. They are known to fight to establish dominance or to attract the attention of females. And while they usually prefer deer for dinner, they are also known to attack and eat humans, as well as other large animals, such as monkeys.

KOMODO DRAGON : A THREAT TO HUMANS ?

Komodo dragons have shark teeth and toxic venom that can kill a person within hours of a bite. Yet villagers who have lived for generations (komodo island) alongside the world's largest lizard were not afraid, until the dragons began to attack. Stories quickly spread in this small tropical archipelago in southeast Indonesia, the only place where the endangered reptiles can still be found in the wild. Two people were killed in 2007, a young boy and a fisherman, and others were seriously injured after being attacked without provoking the lizards.

komodo-dragon-13

Komodo dragon attacks are still rare, experts note. But fear swirls through fishing villages, as do questions about how best to live with dragons in the future. A 46-year-old park ranger was doing paperwork when a dragon slithered down the stairs of his wooden hut in Komodo National Park and attacked his ankles, which were dragging under the desk. When the ranger tried to open the beast's powerful jaws, it sank its teeth into his hand, he says.

"I thought I wouldn't survive... I've spent half my life working with komodo dragons and I've never seen anything like this," the man said, pointing to his jagged gashes, stitched with 55 stitches and still swollen three months later. "Luckily, my friends heard my screams and got me to the hospital in time." We can assume that the behavior of the Komodo dragon is quite unpredictable, it is a born hunter and predator, because of its physical abilities, it does not hesitate to attack bigger than him, if you are in his presence, or at least not very far, stay on your guard and at a good distance.

WHAT DO KOMODO DRAGONS EAT ?

To summarize, the diet of the Komodo dragon is rich and varied, it includes wild pigs, goats, deer and water buffalo. In the wild, it has also been observed to eat other smaller dragons. They have been known to occasionally eat humans and human corpses. More than a dozen human deaths have been attributed to bites in the last century, although there are reports of survivors of the resulting sepsis. Few people survive to tell how they escaped the Komodo dragon.

komodo-dragon-14

You there well understood, its favorite meal, being carnivorous, is the meat. It can ingest the equivalent of 80% of their weight in meat, which is incredible compared to the human being. It is better not to cross its path and not to underestimate it. In the food chain, the only being above it that can be a danger of death for it is the human being. In addition to hunting large mammals, the Komodo dragon feeds on its own species, they cannibalize the young. In captivity, the Komodo dragon eats rodents, chicks and rabbits. Occasionally, it consumes fish and beef carcasses.

KOMODO DRAGON REPRODUCTION

The Komodo dragon is a solitary creature that lives in isolation, except for the occasional mating that takes place during the dry season, between May and August (the only time you will have the chance to witness the fierce battle of rival males). The males compete with each other for the chance to mate with the females. The female will usually develop a visually enlarged abdomen and begin to emit pheromones that act as signals to the males.

KOMODO DRAGON MATING : HOW DOES IT WORK ?

During the mating season of the Komodo dragon, the large dominant males fight intensely for females and territory. This often happens when they gather over a carcass to feed. Blood usually flows and the loser ends up running away or freezing in place as a sign of abdication and abandonment. Before the mating season, females have a number of their eggs develop into yolk in a process called vitellogenesis. Did you know that the komodo dragon is famous for its loyalty? Indeed, they are also known to form pair bonds, and even remain monogamous with their partner, which is rare... among lizard species.

komodo-dragon-15

As with many reptiles, the number of Komodo dragon females that nest each year often changes, due to the availability of prey and the physical condition of the female. In the wild, females do not breed every year. During these "rest" years, they recover from the energy costs incurred by their bodies for egg production during the fertile years.

BABY KOMODO DRAGON

At birth, baby Komodo dragons are only 30 centimeters long. As soon as they hatch, the young run away and climb trees to avoid being eaten by their mother or other Komodo dragons. The life of a young Komodo dragon is not easy. That's right, adults see the young ones as easy meals. Fortunately for the babies, the adults are too heavy and clumsy to climb trees.

At age 4 and about 1.2 meters, young Komodo dragons descend and live on the ground, according to the San Diego Zoo. Those that survive can expect a long life. A Komodo dragon has an average lifespan of 30 years. The eggs are incubated for 7 to 8 months and hatch in April of the following year when insects are abundant. About 20 eggs are laid in September and are deposited in abandoned nests of megapods: medium-sized, stocky, bird-like chickens with small heads and large feet.

The mother of the newborns will also try to protect her future babies from possible dangers, she will create false nests to lure and deceive potential predators to keep her eggs safe. Then, the incubation of her komodo dragon eggs which are the size of a grapefruit, will last about three months. This group of eggs, called a clutch, will eventually hatch and new beings will see the light of day. In its youth, the claws will be used to climb trees.

What is unusual is that females can have "virgin births" (Parthenogenesis). This means that they do not need a male to fertilize an egg so that it can hatch. The creation of offspring without the help of the opposite sex is called "asexual reproduction". Komodo dragons can reproduce both sexually and asexually. According to the Smithsonian Institute, which manages the Washington National Zoological Park, there is no evidence that parents care for the newborns. Knowing that they reach maturity around 5-7 years.

DREAMS ABOUT KOMODO DRAGONS

When you have a Komodo dragon dream, like the cheetah, it means you need to be more flexible in your thinking and decision making. You may also be able to take advantage of opportunities that are currently available to you. Your agility and discretion will help you get what you want. In other words, go for it! If you don't, this giant reptile could symbolize real fear. Moreover, this fear manifests itself in negative results in your attempts to achieve your goals. You need to dig for the source and deal with it. From time to time, this large reptile will appear in your dreams to signal that you are neglecting an opportunity that has come your way. In other words, you are dismissing something as irrelevant, when it may be everything you are looking for.

5 FACTS ABOUT THE KOMODO DRAGON

CAN KOMODO DRAGONS SWIN ?

Yet when you look at the size and length of a Komodo dragon, full of muscles, moving on land, you don't think about the fact that it is an innate natural swimmer. However, Komodo dragons, like most other reptiles, are seasoned swimmers! They can swim for hours and have been spotted miles offshore, sometimes changing islands.

KOMODO DRAGON PLAYING

Although they are very scary to watch, these predators are known to be very playful in captivity. Captive specimens have been seen playing with everyday objects like shoes and shovels, or toys like frisbees and ropes. A study was conducted on a captive dragon named "Kraken" at the Smithsonian Zoo after it began acting strangely toward zoo employees. It was observed pulling on shoelaces with its teeth, or gently removing items from people's pockets.

komodo-dragon-21

Zoo employees decided to introduce objects into his enclosure, such as boxes, blankets, shoes and frisbees, the reptile also liked to play tug of war with the caretakers. The observed behavior was interpreted as play, as Kraken showed no aggression and did not do so for food reward. The Komodo dragon was also able to learn commands, such as walking towards a handler when he whistled, and understanding that it was time to eat when a handler wore brightly colored gloves.

GEORGE H. W. BUSH RECEIVES A KOMODO DRAGON

The 41st President of the United States, about halfway through his four-year term, received a male Komodo dragon named Naga from the Indonesian government. Despite the temptation to let him run amok in the Oval Office, he decided to give him to the Cincinnati Zoo. Naga lived to the ripe old age of 24, and fathered more than 32 baby Komodo dragons. He was one of the Cincinnati Zoo's main attractions, receiving a million visitors a year and even went on tour as a conservation officer in 1995.

YOUNG KOMODO DRAGONS ROLL IN FECES

There's a simple and vital reason for this, and that is that adults are anything but picky and won't think twice about devouring their own offspring. Until they're old enough to fend for themselves, young Komodo dragons stay away from hungry adults by taking refuge in trees, where they become agile branch-climbing predators. But this is not always enough. When close encounters are imminent, the juveniles make themselves as unappetizing as possible by rolling in dung, and that's something even the most voracious Komodo dragon can't handle.

KOMODO DRAGON TEETH : THEY GROW BACK !

komodo-dragon-22

In the mouth of a Komodo dragon, there are about 60 short, sharp teeth designed to cut and tear flesh. They resemble shark teeth and have been compared to those of an extinct saber-toothed cat. A Komodo dragon goes through four or five sets of teeth in its lifetime. They eat extremely fast, consuming 2 to 3 kg of meat per minute is a breeze for them.

KOMODO DRAGON ENDANGERED SPECIES ?

The Komodo dragon is a unique and rare species. They live only on a few Indonesian islands, called the Lesser Sunda Islands. The largest population is found on the island of Komodo. The populations are however decreasing. The IUCN classifies this animal as a vulnerable species. This is due in part to farmers who poison the carrion to kill these predators. Their limited range also puts them in great danger of extinction. It is estimated that there are only 6,000 Komodo dragons in the wild. This exceptional and endangered species deserves protection and respect. Efforts to protect these animals continue in Indonesia and in the zoos that keep these lizards in captivity, by going to visit them, you also participate.

komodo-dragon-23

Although they have been hunted (legally and illegally), their population decline is due to their limited range. No Komodo dragons have been seen on Padar Island since the 1970s as a result of widespread poaching of deer, the reptile's main source of prey. The Komodo National Park, established in 1980, and strict anti-poaching laws have helped protect them, although illegal activities still occur. Villagers sometimes poison carrion bait to reduce the population, much as ranchers in the American West poison sheep carcasses to rid the area of coyotes and mountain lions. The Dutch colonial government put protection plans in place as early as 1915.

This winged creature is the result of a whimsical union between a snake and a bird.

This winged snake without legs is amazing. From the fact that it is an imaginary and fanciful beast from mythology and past tales, but also because it is a hybrid. The fusion of two genres that creates only one, in our case the snake and the bird. Result, we get a creature out of the ordinary that could be adapted on the big screen.

ampthithere-armored-drake

Amphithere dragon origin

The amphitere dragon is dragon-like creature whose origins can be traced back to Greek and Roman mythologylegends and folklore. In particular, accounts of its existence first appeared in the "Natural History" (a work written by Pliny the Elder, who was reputed to have linked and confused the creature with the jaculus), in "The Histories" (a work by Herodotus) and in "Characteristics of Animals" (a work by Aelian). Later, he will also establish links with the medieval era.

This type of dragon is found in Britain, the Middle East, Egypt and several Latin American countries such as Peru. Their appearance is similar to that of a gigantic jade-colored snake with multicolored feathered wings, and some also have a single pair of front legs. In European and Middle Eastern countries, the amphitheater is believed to know all but one of the world's secrets and possesses fantastic powers such as hypnotic eyes, which are usually invested in guarding the earth's treasures, such as myrrh trees, gold and other various riches.

amphipthere-armored-drake-2

Even the body parts of an Amphitere dragon are special. If its teeth are sunk, an army of battle-ready warriors emerges, eager to help its mate. Its blood, when drunk, gives the power to understand animals, and a potion made from dried Amphitere eyes mixed with honey cures headaches. The most famous of the Latin American Amphiters is the "Quetzalcoatl" (quetzal-snake), whose name means "most precious snake". It is believed that this dragon is inspired by the quetzal bird, which has a beautiful multicolored tail of almost 60 cm lenght.

Amphithere dragon bird heraldry

The amphipteron is a hybrid from European heraldry, half snake and half bird. Throughout Europe, the amphipteron was widely feared, so that any family that displayed it on its coat of arms was seen as particularly formidable in battle.

ampthithere-armored-drake-7

Despite the origin of the word, amphipterans are found all over the world before their European counterpart. For example, ancient Egypt has many amphipterans, and the Mesoamerican feathered serpent Quetzalcoatl sometimes takes the form of the amphipteran.

Appearance Amphithere

Described as a small legless winged snake, the amphipterus (javelina snake) was detailed by Pliny (Roman naturalist) as having two tongues. One serpentine and the other arrow-shaped. The amphipterus also resembles the guivre of French folklore and heraldry. Rarely represented in European heraldry. The amphipteron as a creature was much feared.

amphipthere-armored-drake-4

The amphipteron is often compared to a winged snake. In addition, its shape varies according to the race of snake, as well as the species of bird it resembles. Depending on the mythologies, it can be for example:

  • A cobra with falcon wings

  • An anaconda with condor wings

  • A black mamba with eagle wings

  • An asp viper with hummingbird wings

In some cases, an amphipteran may even have feathers other than just on its wings, especially on its body. It may even have bat wings or draconic wings instead of bird wings. And with these, the species, breed of bat or dragon it resembles also varies.

amphiptere-armored-drake8

American amphithere

The American Amphipterus (Draco Americanus Tex), also called dragon moth, because it only hunts at night, it is not known for its optimism. On the contrary, it bites without restraint. American Amphipterans measure more than 4 meters long and 2 to 3 meters high. Their color is usually an iridescent purple, with a yellow belly and wings, although red, blue and green have been observed. American Amphipterans have an unusual high-pitched call and congregate en masse.

These nighttime Amphipterans eat all large mammals, including unwary cowboys. They can breathe fire and fly, their favorite haunt being high up in valleys like the Oljato-Monument Valley in Utah. Amphipteran eggs are bright green with lighter green phosphorescent markings. Baby Amphipterans can fly from birth, but are quite hesitant for a few years.

amphipthere-armored-drake-5

Mexican amphithere

The Mexican Amphipterus (Draco Americanus Mex) is an enigmatic dragon that could have inspired the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl. It measures from 1.50 to 3 meters high and 14 meters long. Its color is shimmering turquoise with a slightly lighter green belly. The wings of this Amphipterus turn purple while its mane and tail feathers turn golden during the breeding season.

amphipthere-armored-drake-6

It whines like a parrot and feeds on large land animals, such as llamas. Its dens are near water, their nests resembling coracles containing three hard-boiled eggs. The eggs are able to float and are brown with orange markings. The chicks must wait in rocky holes for three years until their wings grow. Aveloca, the most famous Amphipterus, lived to 223 years.

In ancient Ireland and the Celtic islands, the entire Earth was considered by the Celtic druids to be the body of the dragon, and they built their sacred stone circles on the "power knots" of its body, now called the "Celtic knot." They believed that he connected mortals to the magnetism of the Earth and the healing waters.

In this blog post, we shall decipher the many types of dragons, including the species, categorization, and myths. Depending on the civilizations in which the wonderful creature is referenced, the sort of dragon plays an essential role as a god and guardian, or as a monster and terrible antagonist.

The concept of dragons' existence is backed up by a plethora of tales and depictions, which are spread across the many civilizations that portray them. The discovery of dinosaur remains has been given as an explanation for this occurrence, prompting these societies to conjure up images of comparable entities. It's also worth noting that dragons have various qualities and traits in each culture. The Discovery Channel's Animal Planet affiliate released a program called "The World of the Dragon: A Fantasy Made Real" in 2005, which imagined the demise of this purported species in a fantastical style. With a basic explanation of hypothetical animal behavior patterns in mating, eating, and behavior, the production is a mix of fiction, speculation, and mythology.

SILVER DRAGON

Since they have been mingled with humans for a long time, the silver dragon is one of the varieties of dragons that loves and protects them the most. Silvara, who pretended to be a young Kalanesti elf girl, and her sister Gwyneth, the dragon-woman who captivated the knight Huma's heart, are two of the most renowned reptiles of this hue. Silvana (the silver dragon) appears in Lancedragon, a romance book based on the popular "Dungeons & Dragons" role-playing games, video games, and novels.

SILVER-DRAGON

BLACK DRAGON

Black dragons are often found in marshes, however some have been known to live in subterranean dens. He is merciless by nature, destroying everything in its path, yet it will only attack if the payoff is worth it. They launch a massive onslaught, blanketing the skies in darkness, allowing them to strike unobserved. The black dragon is the personification of evil and ruin.

ICE DRAGON

Because they lived in extremely cold climates, the ice dragon was also known as the blue dragon. Even the black dragons hesitated before attacking one of these ice dragons since these dragons were gentle and had a thick skin that shielded them from any hostile attack. They determine glacial melts and ice layers in the polar regions in certain traditions (ice floes). Viserion, for example, is not a genuine ice dragon ; his body is not totally coated in ice, and he is a reanimated ghost in "Game of Thrones."

ICE-DRAGON

THE RED DRAGON

Red dragons used to be found around volcanoes or in extremely hot environments. Red dragons usually don't attack unless provoked, but when they do, they're ruthless, but not as cold-blooded as black dragons. They could contort their bodies, so the flames they threw were massive.

RED-DRAGON

GOLDEN DRAGON

One of the benign dragons is the golden dragon. These reptiles were polymorphic, which meant they could change into any species. The golden dragons seldom utilize this ability since they believe it is pointless to turn into a lesser species, as they are magnificent dragons.

GOLDEN-DRAGON

GREEN DRAGON

Green dragons were an unusual race. Some green dragons were calm, while others were ferocious. They made their homes in lush woodlands or subterranean caverns. They weren't a powerful race, but they were quick and clever. When the green dragon sensed danger, it would strike with its sharp claws at the end of its legs.

GREEN-DRAGON

WHITE DRAGON

The white dragon belongs to the "bad dragon" category and is the smallest dragon species in terms of size. White dragons are accustomed to frigid climates and can only be found in a few places. They halt the process of imprisoning their adversaries.

WHITE-DRAGON

BRONZE DRAGON

bronze dragon's cheeks and eyes are crowned by a fluted and ridged crest, and the ribs finish in curving horns, the biggest of which grows from the top of its head. It can swim thanks to straps running around its limbs and between its claws. A bronze dragon's scales are a dark metallic brown with a shine that resembles polished bronze.

Typically, the bronze dragon is placed near vast bodies of water. It is very concerned about the fate of mankind. There are two types of breath in these dragons. The first is lightning, while the second is a foul-smelling gas. A specimen of this species, Khirsah (Lancedragon), was the only one in history to consent to carry a dwarf and a kender on his back.

BRONZE-DRAGON

EUROPEAN DRAGON

The most prevalent creature is this one. The European dragon is based on the elements of wind and fire, although its element can occasionally change to "ice," which is a unique element. European dragons with whitish scales are known as "Nordic Dragons" or "Snow Dragons" when this happens. He has massive wings, multiple horns, and four muscular legs, as well as a devastating tail. It is the most well-balanced of all the species. Unlike those with white scales, they like socializing with others. He is vulnerable to ice and water, but the Nordic dragon is vulnerable to fire.

EUROPEAN-DRAGON

NEO-DRAGON (4 WINGED DRAGON)

They are very rare, extremely rare. Some have four front legs and two rear legs, four eyes, and even four to six pairs of massive, fibrous wings. Their skin is smooth, they have no scales, and their wings are formed of feathers and fur. There isn't much to say about this sort of dragon because their silhouettes vary so considerably from one to the next, in terms of color, size, and body, that no two are likely to be identical. This four-winged dragon has a variety of appearances; they are as beautiful as they are terrifying, and people desire to avoid them at all costs. Their primary element is wind, and their weaknesses are determined by the other element allotted to them.

NEO-DRAGON

LERNE HYDRA

The Lerna Hydra was a massive, vicious, and tenacious creature in the shape of a snake with numerous heads (the number of heads varies across tales), resembling a dragon, with breath, teeth, and mortally toxic blood. It was Typhon and Echidna's daughter, and it was the monster Heracles had to slay in the second of his twelve labors. It is included in the list because of its look, which is eerily similar to that of a dragon.

LERNE-HYDRA

COPPER DRAGON

bronze dragon is slender and sinuous in appearance. It features a pair of pronounced backward sweeping horns, cheek ridges, and jaw ruffles, all coated in scales. It has huge, gleaming bands or plates that are smooth to the touch. It has stunning turquoise eyes. The scales of a bronze dragon age to a green colour, similar to verdigris on an antique statue.

COPPER-DRAGON

The copper dragon prefers rocky terrain. They are kind dragons, but they are also extremely ambitious. Copper dragons have two different ways of breathing. The first is a devastating acid blast, while the second is a gas cone that may slow down or stop the enemy's progress.

SEA DRAGON

Sea dragons lack wings and, in some cases, hind legs, and they lack the ability to breathe fire. A long, slick body, similar to that of a sea snake, with complete scales, generally blue and green, that are ideal for concealment. The Leviathan is the most well-known of the species, since it is the biggest sea serpent capable of causing tsunamis with ease.

SEA-DRAGON

In the water, the sea dragon is normally frigid and wary, yet clever and swift. They hold their breath for an extended amount of time. They are less proficient, though not necessarily clumsy, on land. Water is their primary element, although they can also handle ice. When it comes to the soil and plant types, it's a no-no.

ASIAN DRAGON

In certain regions of Asia, Asian dragons are considered lucky or healthy, and they are highly respected. Asian dragons are said to be magical weather controllers, especially when it comes to rain and water. Asian dragons are a hybrid of various species. The head of a horse or camel, an ox's ears, a snake's neck or body, a fish's scales, a tiger's legs, and an eagle's claws are all examples. The imperial dragon has five claws, whereas most dragons have three or four. Asian dragons have the ability to turn invisible at command. He frequently wears or wears a pearl around his neck, symbolizing the sun and conveying its positive energy. He is a friend as well as a teacher.

ASIAN-DRAGON

Depending on its species, the Asian dragon can be found in a variety of locations. The underground dragon is in charge of preserving riches, valuable metals, and discovered treasures hidden far beneath the earth's surface. The earth dragon, also known as the river lord, is in charge of regulating and maintaining the water springs, as well as shifting their route as needed. Clouds, wind, and rain are created by the divine dragon or ruler of the weather. Finally, the heavenly dragon guards the gods' homes and the skies.

Asian dragons, unlike other dragons, do not have wings (in fact, Ying-Lung dragons were the only ones to have them). So, how did these dragons manage to take to the air ? Dragons, on the other hand, were viewed as supernatural entities who flew "by magic" by the Eastern peoples. Most Asian dragons have the ability to change. They could take on the appearance of a variety of species, including monsters and mankind. They were still the most beautiful and nicest of all creatures at the time they did this.

DRAGON LAITON

A sort of dragon that dwells in sandy places is the brass dragon. They are obnoxious and boisterous, and they have a tendency to be self-centered. They talk without thinking and accompany explorers to hear what they have to say. Brass dragons are among the varieties of dragons who have learned magic, and their breath may either put you to sleep or frighten you, or both.

ASIAN-DRAGON

WYVERNE

Wyverns, often called Vouivre or heraldic dragons, are monsters from European medieval folklore. They are one step below dragons and have the shape of flying reptiles. The wyvern has only two rear legs and two wings with claws on the end of them. It has brilliant red eyes. Its tail possesses a sting that is comparable to a scorpion's. The wyvern fights using its stinger, which it moves with incredible speed. This stinger injects poison that only a few victims survive. They have a low level of intellect and lack the agility of a dragon in flying.

WYVERNE

MOUNTAIN DRAGON

The mountain dragon got its name because it usually lived in mountains and other distant areas during medieval times. However, as a sort of dragon, its name is inappropriate.

MOUTAIN-DRAGON

DRAGON OF NATURE

The nature dragon can be found in deep forests and bamboo groves. These creatures have inherited their marine forefather's massive and sinuous physique. They were able to maneuver through the jungle vegetation with ease as a result of this. This sort of dragon was also capable of swimming. As a result, in the event of a very hot season or a forest fire, they may always seek safety in the rivers.

DRAGON-OF-NATURE

MARSUPIAL DRAGON

This is a rare form of dragon, also known as the draco marsupialis, that only lives in Australia. The rear legs of the marsupial dragon are extremely strong and agile. It has a kangaroo-like look, but it only utilizes its front paws to support itself or rest because they are considerably smaller. Its main weapon is its tail, which is both powerful and flexible. When they're on their backs, it's best not to assault them. On their heads, they have little ears and horns. Marshupial dragons are typically joyful and lively, and they are entirely aerodynamic. Their primary elements are fire and earth, and they are vulnerable to wind.

DRAGON_MARSUPIAL

LINDWORM

lindworm (also known as a linnormdreki, or ormr in Scandinavia and Lindwurm in Germany) is made up of two Germanic words that mean "snake trapper." It is a giant serpent dragon from European folklore and mythology. Some traditions claim it had two legs, while others claim it had none. The lindworm is related to the wyvern in Nordic and Germanic legend, although it lacks wings. These enormous worms ate animals and corpses, entered abbeys, and ate the dead in cemeteries, according to legend.

LINDWORN

DRAGON JACULUS

A snake/dragon with little legless wings, the dragon jaculus. It is reported to have swarmed among Arabia's incense plants. The jaculus would attack the Arabs who came to acquire the valuable spices in the past. Like various dragons, the dragon jaculus possessed a sharp arrowhead at the end of its tail. The Jaculus plummeted from the trees at breakneck speed, its tail acting as a javelin, piercing and pursuing its target through the forest. The African wilderness, the Middle East, and even the British Isles have all been home to this ort of dragon.

DRAOGN_JACULUS

ORIENTAL DRAGON

The Chinese term "lung" refers to the several sorts of oriental dragons they have. The horned dragon Qiu Lung, the celestial dragon Tian Lung, the spiritual dragon Sheng Lung that controls rain, wind, and floods, the earth dragon Ti-Lung, the hidden treasure dragon Fucan Lung, the water dragon Wang-Lung, the coiled dragon Pan Lung, the yellow dragon Huang Lung, and the dragon king Ying Lung are the nine types of Chinese imperial dragons (nine because it is the lucky number). These imperial dragons have five claws, compared to four for Korean dragons and four for Japanese dragons.

Dragons are said to have started in China, and the further they moved, the more claws they lost, until they were unable to continue. Eastern dragons are milder, friendlier, and more helpful than their western counterparts. They can hatch from either a lung dragon egg or a carp that leaps over the dragon's entrance.

DRAGON_ORIENTAL

DRAGON RYUJIN

Tatsu, or dragon ryu, is a Japanese martial art. It's a massive serpentine creature that looks like a cross between a Chinese lung dragon and a Korean yong. It differs from other dragons in that each leg has just three toes. The Ryujin dragon has no wings, is coated in scales, and has short legs and horns.

It's frequently linked to water, clouds, or the sky. There are six different varieties of Japanese dragons:

  • Sui-Riu, is the king of the Japanese dragons. The rain god, sometimes known as the "rain dragon," is in charge of the rain.

  • Han-Riu, is a striped Japanese dragon. It's roughly forty feet long, but it's never made it to the sky.

  • Ri-Riu, a relatively obscure dragon with extraordinary vision (compared to other dragons, of course).

  • Ka-Riu, He was one of the tiniest dragons, measuring only seven feet in length. He was bright red.

  • Hai-riyo In Japan, it is known as a "dragon bird." It was a "advanced" version of a dragon.

  • Fuku Riu is a fortunate dragon.

DRAGON AMPHISBENE

The dragon amphisbene (Amphisbaena in Greek) is an ant-eating snake with a head at either end of its body. Its name originates from the Greek words amphis, which means "both ways," and baena, which means "to go." It is also known as the mother of ants. The amphisbene, according to Greek mythology, sprang from the blood that spilled from the jellyfish's head as Perseus travelled through the Libyan desert with it in his hand. A deadly monster with two heads and a serpentine body, the amphisbene is described..

He is depicted in medieval artwork with two or more scaled feet, particularly chicken legs and feathered wings. Some picture the monster as a dragon with horns and a snake head at the end of its tail, as well as little round ears. Others claim that the two "necks" are the same size and that the back head is unidentified. The amphisbene's eyes are said to glow like candles or lightning in several accounts. Amphisbene heads have two unique souls that may be split into two halves or fused together to form a single body.

AMPHIPTÈRE

The name "Amphitere" is used to describe dragons or feathered snakes. This creature's variants frequently lacked legs and just had a pair of wings. Amphipterans were said to have a lot of intelligence and knowledge, as well as a lot of energy. Many were also considered to be treasure guardians. Specific attributes were ascribed to body parts, as in Draconian mythology. One of these was the eyeballs, which could induce hypnosis in anyone.

DRAGON-AMPHITERE

The only form of American dragon with just wings as limbs is the amphitere. It has three subspecies: the northern subspecies, the southern subspecies, and the southern subspecies. It may be found all throughout the continent.

  • Tex americanus , often known as the winged snake, is a northern dragon with moth-like wings and a skin-covered body.

  • Mex americanus , also known as the feathered serpent, is a Central American dragon with feathers all over its body and is linked to the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl.

  • Incognito americanus, about which little is known since it can blend in with practically any habitat.

PREHISTORIC DRAGON

DRAGON-PREHISTORIC

Cretaceous dragons were the world's biggest flying creatures. These ancient reptiles descended from a group of aquatic and semi-aquatic reptiles that lived 200 million years ago on the ocean floor. Originally, terrestrial creatures could only move their four limbs and could not fly or breathe fire. However, one of these species evolved the capacity to walk on its two hind legs, enabling for the creation of forelimbs that would eventually become wings in the future.

Dragons began to use the bacteria existing in their stomachs to create hydrogen during this period, for which there are no fossil references. This advantage allowed them to exceed the weight barrier (which is present in birds and bats, for example) and become the world's largest flying species. The prehistoric dragon even faced up against one of the time's greatest predators, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Dragons later began to consume inorganic materials such as platinum, which acted as catalysts for the hydrogen stored in their bladders. The dragons' armor was infused with the formidable fire-breathing weapon in this fashion. It was the birth of the primordial dragon.
